President Chris Mauer Passes to Chapter Eternal

 President Christopher Mauer, Phi '91 (Southeastern Louisiana University) died Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the Baton Rouge General Hospital. He was suffering from smoke inhalation and second degree burns. He sustained the injuries in a fire that destroyed his home on December 24, 2008. He was 40.
Chris was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife Holly, sons Christopher (11), Cameron (8), and Carter (3), mother Sandra, brother Mark Mauer and thousands of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity brothers who loved him dearly.
As an undergraduate, Chris was President of Phi Chapter and served as Chairman of the 34th Grand Chapter Nominating Committee in 1990. During his term as chapter president, Phi Chapter earned the Edward H. McCune Distinguished Chapter Award. Chris was named the Ellsworth C. Dent Man-of-the-Year in 1991. He earned numerous campus awards as well, including the SLU Ronald Baskins Outstanding Student Leader Award.
Chris was colony mentor for Beta Kappa Chapter from 1995-1997, District Director for the Gold Coast District from 1997-2000, and Regional Vice President of the Southern Region from 2000-2002. He was elected to the National Board of Directors at the 40th Grand Chapter in 2002 and to the office of President-elect at the 41st Grand Chapter in 2004. He began his term as 34th National President at the 42nd Grand Chapter in 2006.
Chris loved his home state of Louisiana, where he was active in numerous political campaigns. He was a proud member of the Sigma Tau Gamma alumni chapters in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
Professionally, Chris was an Enrollment and Expansion Manager for the University of Phoenix.

Please make checks out to Louisiana START Saving Program and put "Mauer kids tuition" in the memo. The money will be split accordingly among the three boys.
