Foundation

The mission of the Sigma Tau Gamma Foundation is to make possible the use of tax-deductible charitable gift dollars for the development of scholarship, leadership and citizenship in chapters of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.

It is a public educational foundation established in 1966 and qualified under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

A volunteer board of 18 Trustees governs the Sigma Tau Gamma Foundation. The Trustees meet semi-annually in January and August. The Trustees pay for their own travel and meeting expense, thereby preserving all donations for the support of programs.

Administratively, the Foundation shares the Fraternity staff operating from the Marvin Millsap National Headquarters Building at our founding site in Warrensburg, Missouri. The Millsap building was fully funded by charitable donations to the Foundation. No collegiate member dues or fees were used to establish the headquarters facility.

Donors are recognized in three ways.
Alumni Loyalty Fund donors are recognized with annual gift recognition clubs. They are: Sig Tau Loyalty Club - $25, Sig Tau Sponsors Club - $50, Sig-Tau Century Club - $100, Founder’s Society - $150, Director’s Society - $250, and President’s Society - $500.
The Wilson C. Morris Fellowship recognizes cumulative lifetime giving levels. Individuals who donate $1,000 over no more than four years qualify to become Wilson C. Morris Fellows. From that point forward all donations count toward the cumulative giving recognitions.

The W. T. Hembree Guild recognizes donors who arrange for an estate gift to the Foundation. These gifts are most frequently made with a provision in the donor’s will. Donors may also arrange for gifts through life insurance and various trust arrangements, including charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts. The Foundation staff can assist with these arrangements.

The Foundation funded educational programs with $110,000 in grants during the fiscal year ended June 30, 2007. The Foundation’s endowment at year-end was $2,737,000. Programs supported in full or in part by Sigma Tau Gamma Foundation grants include:
• Academy of Principled Leaders – a three-day training workshop for new chapter presidents
• SAGA of Sigma Tau Gamma – our quarterly magazine
• Vision 2010 Research Initiative – helping us to better understand and serve the millennial generation
• McCune Metrics CPI (Continuous Process Improvement) initiative for chapters
• Path of Principles Member Development Program
• Sig-Tau Scholar tee shirt and certificate program for recognition of individual member academic achievement
• Collegiate Member Scholarships given for Academic and Leadership criteria
• Risk Management Education – helping to keep our chapter members and guests safe from harm
• Field Consultant Service to Chapters
• Sigma Tau Gamma website: www.sigmataugamma.org – our most used communication link
• Scholarships for participation in the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (an NIC program)

The future of these programs is completely dependent upon the continued support of loyal alumni brothers like you. Our Foundation Board of Trustees is interested in your ideas, questions, comments and suggestions. You may reach our Trustees through the Foundation office at P. O. Box 373, Warrensburg, MO 64093, by telephone at (660) 747-2222 or by Email at: foundation@sigmataugamma.org
