June 13, 2012 – The Gamma Phi Chapter at University of Southern Indiana spent June 7-10 working at ShrinerFest in Evansville, IN. The Gamma Phi chapter is known for their homemade strombolis and has previously sold them at different street festivals in Indiana. The brothers sold strombolis during ShrinerFest to raise money for the 45th Grand Chapter and to help purchase cooking items for future festivals.

Picture_2A Gamma Phi alumnus helped the chapter reserve a booth at the festival to sell their “stroms.”  The Brothers worked the booth 11 hours a day for four days selling their strombolis and almost reached their goal of $800.

"The hours were long, but the Gamma Phi chapter had a great time working together and interacting with the community,” said Nick Mathis, a member of Gamma Phi.  “Amid the jokes in the booth, coordination of customers' orders, and pitching our famous ‘hot stroms!’ to passersby, we were lucky enough to run into a few alumni—an original chartering member of our chapter included!"

This summer the Gamma Phi chapter hopes to sell strombolis at more street festivals in the area.  As their build rapport, they are planning to attend a popular festival, "Westside Nut Club's Fall Festival", this October.
