Where am I? Beta Lambda Chapter, Valparaiso University Feb. 2, 2012 – Somewhere across the country, you will find members of Sigma Tau Gamma’s field staff visiting chapters to help them grow and become even more successful. I alone am visiting almost 20 different chapters this semester! To record our travels and share the lessons and resources we are contributing during our chapter visits, we have decided to start a travel blog. Each Thursday, you can logon to the Latest News section of sigmataugamma.org and read about our ventures across Sig Tau Nation. Michael, Addison, Paul, Derek, Bill and myself look forward to meeting many of you and assisting you and your chapter in any way we can. Last week, I had the opportunity of working with Paul and Derek at Purdue University, where they are reestablishing the Beta Theta Chapter. This week, I got to make my first solo chapter visit.

These brothers plan to continue recruitment efforts throughout the semester. During a recruitment workshop, I presented Phired Up’s name’s list that chapters can create on a Google doc. We set a goal that the men of Beta Lambda will put 10 new contacts they meet each week on their name’s list for the next ten weeks. That’s 100 men that could be your next Sig Tau brothers by the end of April! I encourage you to work with your chapter and set recruitment goals as well. Make sure you have means to measure your goal (Beta Lambda’s example of 10 men per week) and a timetable to make sure you get your goals accomplished (10 weeks). Also, check out the recruitment checklist full of resources, including the name’s list template from Phired Up. I’ve enjoyed my visit and look forward to seeing Beta Lambda achieve their goals! I also look forward to meeting the men of Cleveland State University and Kent State University next week! #goTAU -Josh Floyd, Gamma Chi ‘11
